TUNING YOUR PIANO

TUNING YOUR PIANO

It is important to keep your piano in tune. Regular tuning is very important, just like it is important to have your car serviced at least once a year. Regular tuning which we recommend should be done twice a year is vital as it keeps your piano at concert pitch. If tuning is not carried out on a regular basis, then the pitch starts to drop and unisons will drift out of tune. Having your piano tuned twice a year ensures that any issues that may start to develope are caught early and can be put right there and then rather than being left to get worse resulting in even higher repair costs etc.
We at Little & Lampert Pianos offer a first class tuning service and we have been tuning pianos since 1982 so we have many years of experience. As all piano strings are made from steel, they are very prone to temperature changes thus causing the piano to go out of tune even if you are not using it. A piano sounds much nicer too if it is in tune and with regular key regulation too the playing experience is enhanced. Having your piano tuned twice a year is also a good way to catch early signs of moth. Moth can be devastating on a piano action and keys, an invasion of moths can easily destroy your piano in a matter of months. Moths love to eat all the felts and baizes. Another problem you want to avoid by early discovery is wood worm. Another creature that can destroy your piano in super quick time. Regular tuning can go a long way towards preventing any bug invasions.
