Back of a Piano Video Transcript
[Paul is crouched at the back of two pianos]
Paul: “At Little and Lampert Pianos we tend to specialise in unusual Yamahas. To show you the difference between a conventionally made one and a hand built one: If you look round the back of a piano this is a conventionally made Yamaha with the back bracings that take the strain for the iron frame, vertically, straight up and down. On a hand built one it’s a cross section which makes it a UX piano which gives it a lot more stability, and therefore is a lot stronger. Hence the fact that it should in theory stay in tune longer. Not that there’s anything wrong with the conventional one but the hand built one is just that bit better.”
